Eventually we arrived in Jo’burg after a causal saunter back through Livingstone, Vic Falls, Bulawayo and Tshipise.  Our next step was to get old Humble in for repairs …. or so we thought.  OUR estimate was around R40,000…..or so we thought…

In reality the repairs came to over R148,000…………….yikes.  Tuffstuff (our insurance company) were great and authorised the repairs within a few days.  We then had a chat with them and decided that in the long term, repairing the van wasn’t the right thing to do and asked whether we could just be paid out (less the 10% excess….yikes) and call it a day with Conqueror. They had no objections to this but wanted to see the salvage value first.  True to form and with their usual arrogance, Conqueror came back with an insulting R5,000.  So where we are today is with the assessor trying to find other tenders for salvage.

In the meantime we have decided to go back to a trailer instead of a caravan and have ordered the K2 from Summit.  Hell will freeze over before we touch another Conqueror product.  Our new home is estimated to be ready June 24th, so we will be back in Jo’burg on 22nd.

How will we pass the time until then???  We have hightailed it to Ballito and are happy camped (thanks to Greg and Karens tent) at Dolphin Holiday Resort.  If you are passing, feel free to pop in.
